Beautiful Vintage solid Oak Ecclesiastical Corner Display Cupboard – Hobbs & Co. Was originally used in a small Church in the West Country to store their Church silver , hence the top range lock by Hobbs & Co. This was a Company started in Cheapside, London in 1852, sold onto Chubb in 1954. Hobbs & Co were very well known for making the best locking mechanisms and were strong room/ key safe specialists. There are only a few items of furniture with their locks such as this Ecclesiastical cupboard and gentlemens desks that required high levels of security and hence they had a Hobbs & Co lock applied. The cupboard has been fully and sensitively restored, has gold coloured hinges and gold wire replaced to the front to turn it into a gorgeous display corner cupboard. Was originally mounted upon a wall but now has freshly turned bun feet so that it stands on the floor. Was completely stripped back to the original oak wood and has been rewaxed and polished. Shelves are lined with a Farrow & Ball muted designed wallpaper that compliments the style of the furniture. Height 59 inches Depth 18 inches, Width 25inches.
